A 1980s blue sequined maxi gown by Casadei in a striking shade of cobalt blue adorned with purple iridescent sequins, a high neck and sweetheart neckline. The sleeves are made from the same tulle mesh as the front panel. The main body of the dress features vertical rows of sequins and with blue bugle beads, backed on a georgette fabric which helps keep the dress lightweight despite its elaborate embellishments. The bodice is a bodysuit that snaps at the crotch to help keep the boned bodice in place. The fabric has a generous stretch.
The back features a stunning open cut-out trimmed in the same bugle beads and closes with a zipper and hook/eye at the base of the back. The shoulders are padded to create a structured high 80s glamour silhouette. There is a left thigh slit for extra drama.
Casadei is an Italian shoe brand that also briefly forayed into luxury fashion during the 80s and 90s. These collections were retailed in the best US department stores of the day and designs featured in both the television dramas Dynasty and Dallas.
